Announcements
Happy June, everyone! We hope you all enjoyed Father's Day with your families this month.
- Please help us welcome our newest team member: Allyson! Let's all be sure to help her settle in.
- Let's also recognize May's Perfect Attendance Awardees: Ramona, Kristina, Eric H, Elexia, Raven, Katie, Abbygail, Debbie, Ryder, Machelle, Dana, & Shane. Great job, everyone!
- Be sure to work on your apprenticeship classes in Relias. Notify your manager each time you complete 50 hours to receive your raises. (Each 50 hours completed equals a 50 cent raise.)
- Health insurance applications are due on 6/30, for EVERYONE. (Turn them in to your HM or put them in Kayce's mailbox.) We need these to move forward in the purchasing process, but you will have an opportunity to change your mind before anything is finalized.
- There should be no contact between staff & individuals on social media, by phone, or outside of work, in general. It is essential that we maintain professional relationships with the individuals we support. They have 24-hour staff & access to a manager at all times. If you wish to make plans with an individual outside of work hours, for a special occasion/outing, you will need permission from your supervisor.
- Employees are required to meet dress code requirements when on-duty. The Uniform Policy is being updated & sent out for acknowledgement.
- The All Staff Meeting on July 8, is mandatory. We prefer everyone attends in person, but if that isn't possible, there is a virtual link on your Outlook Calendar. If you absolutely cannot attend, please discuss it with your supervisor in advance.
- Please check your schedule in Workforce regularly, as we are rotating staff between locations. Your "permanent" locations won't change without notice, but since each location has unique needs & routines, we are trying to better acquaint all of our team members with each other & our other individuals. Let's put the TEAM in TEAMWORK!

Professional Conduct
Professionalism and workplace ethics are demonstrated through the way employees conduct themselves, interact with others, and handle their responsibilities. A professional employee maintains a positive attitude, treats coworkers with respect, and keeps personal conflicts separate from the workplace. Being approachable, dependable, and respectful helps create a productive and collaborative work environment.
Professionalism begins with presenting yourself appropriately and communicating effectively. Strong communication skills include listening to others, expressing ideas clearly, and working through disagreements respectfully. Professionals remain calm under pressure, think critically when solving problems, and focus on solutions rather than blame.
Accountability is another key aspect of professionalism. Ethical employees take responsibility for their actions and mistakes, learn from them, and work to prevent similar issues in the future. Rather than making excuses, they demonstrate reliability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Workplace ethics are built on honesty, integrity, competence, and respect. Honesty requires employees to be truthful in their work and communications. Integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is watching or when taking shortcuts might be easier. Ethical professionals consistently uphold organizational values and earn the trust of colleagues, customers, and leaders.
Competence involves maintaining the knowledge and skills necessary to perform one's job effectively. Employees should strive for continuous learning, seek assistance when needed, and complete their work with care and diligence.
An important part of professional growth is receiving feedback from supervisors and colleagues with a positive and open mindset. Constructive feedback is intended to help employees develop their skills, improve performance, and succeed in their roles—not to punish, criticize, or discourage them. Professional employees understand that feedback is a valuable tool for growth and view it as an opportunity to learn rather than a personal attack. Instead of becoming defensive or offended, they listen carefully, seek clarification when needed, and apply the guidance they receive. A willingness to accept feedback, make adjustments, and continuously improve demonstrates maturity, professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.
Professionalism is also reflected through nonverbal communication. Facial expressions, body language, tone of voice, and overall demeanor can significantly influence how others perceive you. Maintaining appropriate eye contact, using respectful language and tone, and demonstrating attentive body language help communicate professionalism and respect. Employees should be mindful that negative expressions, dismissive gestures, sarcasm, or an aggressive tone can undermine workplace relationships even when their words are appropriate. Being aware of how others may perceive your actions helps foster positive interactions and a respectful workplace culture. Email Kayce a brief example of when you either expressed or experienced an example of poor verbal/nonverbal communication at work for an incentive at July's All Staff Meeting.
Respecting confidentiality is also essential. Sensitive information shared by coworkers, consumers, or the organization should be protected and handled responsibly. Trust is strengthened when employees demonstrate discretion and professionalism in managing information.
Finally, ethical workplaces depend on fairness, accountability, and mutual respect. Employees should avoid situations where personal interests could interfere with professional judgment and should speak up when they witness behavior that harms the organization or others.
Together, professionalism and workplace ethics foster trust, strengthen teamwork, improve performance, and contribute to a positive and successful work environment.
